Tattoos and How they improve sleep 😴

Tattoos and How they improve sleep 😴

Tattoos can indeed impact your sleep, especially if you’ve recently gotten one. Here are some tips on how to ensure a better night’s sleep while taking care of your new tattoo

Pre-Bed Routine

Before going to bed, clean your tattoo carefully but thoroughly to remove any lingering bacteria. Bacteria can multiply in the warm, cozy environment of your bed, so keeping your tattoo clean is essential.

Follow your tattoo artist’s advice regarding the initial tattoo wrap. Some artists recommend removing the wrap before bed, while others advise leaving it on until the morning.

Use Clean Bedsheets

Your new tattoo is essentially an open wound during the healing process. To prevent infection, use freshly cleaned bedsheets on the night you return from the tattoo studio.

Change your sheets as often as possible over the next couple of weeks until your tattoo heals. Once it finishes peeling, you can relax about sheet cleanliness.

If you have a favorite set of sheets, consider using a clean spare set that you don’t mind getting covered in blood and ink. Tattoo leakage can be challenging to remove once dried.

Avoid Sleeping Directly on the Tattoo:

Ideally, keep your tattoo from touching anything as much as possible.

If your tattoo is awkwardly placed, try not to lie directly on top of it, pushing it against the mattress. This can help prevent discomfort and promote healing.

Elevate the Tattoo:

Elevating the tattoo can improve blood flow and aid in quicker healing.

Elevating the tattoo also makes sleep easier, as you won’t have to worry as much about accidentally damaging it during the night.

Moisturize:

Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to your tattoo before bed. This can enhance comfort and make sleep more pleasant2.

Remember that everyone’s experience with tattoos is unique, so listen to your body and follow your tattoo artist’s instructions. By taking proper care of your new tattoo, you’ll ensure it heals effectively while still getting a good night’s rest.

Sweet dreams! 🌙💤
